We Make a Difference in their Lives

Over seventeen years ago, God showed Bishop D.J.L. Johnson, CEO of Have Faith Community Development Corporation (HFCDC)  acres and acres of land.  What Bishop and Sister Johnson did not know was where this particular land was located. After  contemplating expanding and making a difference in Florida or New York, Alcolu, South Carolina, which was not on the map, would soon become the place of refuge that God intended. The old Georgia Pacific building on Highway 521 was the beginning of it all. They thought this could be a place for seniors or veterans, but what they saw in a vision were rooms full of children. It began with the Lighthouse Enrichment Afterschool Program (LEAP) and then the Mother Geneva Johnson Academy (MGJA).

The goals of the project:

Couple helping abused women

What people say about HFCDC

Have Faith provided a safe haven for my family. Have Faith provided a nurturing community for my children which raised them to become nurturing and caring adults. They planted a seed of purpose and most of all taught us how to love and depend on God.

Have Faith placed my three girls and I in a beautiful home when we had nowhere to go. They also opened a school named the Mother Geneva Johnson Academy, where my girls learned in a safe environment.

Have faith had helped me in many ways. As a child after my father died, my mother turned to drugs and alcohol. When she gave me up, Have Faith took me in and provided me financial, emotional and spiritual support expecting nothing in return. My life would not have been the same without them.

I'm not really sure where my mom, my sisters and I would be without HFCDC. With their support, I'm successful and supported. I am in position to help others when in need.

I am so grateful for all the support and care that HFCDC shined on me. for over 5 years I had no income and failing health, Have Faith was there for me and all my sickness, Never ending care.

Have Faith is a safe haven for women like me who have endured the tragedies of domestic abuse…I am proud to say I’m a success story- from victim to victory! Now I’m a blessed wife, mother, volunteer, entrepreneur because of this 501C3 organization!

HFCDC has been a blessing to me and my family. After a debilitating illness crippled my husband and left us devastated, this organization stepped in with a home, advocacy and support. I can’t imagine where we would be without the spiritual, financial, and emotional support we were given.

Have faith has impacted my life tremendously, mainly in my spiritual journey. Because of my spiritual growth I have made great strides in my personal life as well as my professional career.

Have Faith provided a family (a village) to take care of my mother, who had Alzheimer’s when I could no longer handle her care on my own. I was losing my mind, and Have Faith became a place of refuge for both my mother and me.

Have Faith has and continues to provide me with a safe haven through every life trial. Through providing me with quality high school education, financial support and encouragement throughout college, housing, care for my disabled father, and so much more. I would not be on the path towards spiritual and financial wellness without Have Faith.
